In the first two weekends of June from 11am till 4pm each day, you’ll find the Open Studios Notts at Thoresby, a series of events created to give visitors the opportunity to meet our Thoresby Studio artists and discover their work and practices.
The Sherwood Forest Wood-Firing Society will be firing up their kiln on the first weekend to then open for the second weekend in June. There will be Raku sessions both weekends for people to have a go. Raku is a process where pots are fired in an outside gas kiln to 1000 degrees C, and then placed into a bucket of combustible materials which is what gives it the unique Raku finish.
Thoresby studio artists Michelle Holland and Alexandra Parkinson will aKilnlso be demonstrating their artistic flair during both weekends.
Visit the Open Studio website to see what else is going on in the North Notts area including Thoresby Park, to visit them all!
